Black Child by Deborah Agbessi

Black Child

I am a black child living in today’s world.
I am a black child. I am a boy or a girl.
I am a black child. I like to run, jump and play.
I am a black child hoping for a brighter day.
I may be light skinned, I may be dark. But, I will always know that I am a black child of God’s.
I need a mother, father, sister or a brother.
I need someone who cares.
I am a black child living in despair.
I may be rich or I may be poor. Who will be my guide to open life’s many doors?
Will it be guns, gangs, and drugs or will it be loving people with lots of hugs?
I am a Black Child.
